Pesto & pasta: together forever

Some food combos are simply unbeatable. Pesto and pasta is one of these timeless love affairs with good pesto taking good pasta to a whole new level. It’s the only ingredient which can singlehandedly transform a portion of pasta into a fine dining experience.

A plate of pasta on its own is not a meal. But that changes instantly the moment fresh pesto is added. Pasta and the fresh blend of olive oil, basil, pine nuts and Grana Padano create a mouth-watering dish with a unique flavour. Basil is considered the “king of herbs” for good reason. And for pasta, it’s the crowning glory!
There’s also a simple explanation as to why pesto is prepared cold and only added to pasta after cooking. When basil is cooked, it quickly loses its distinctive aroma. We prepare our pesto fresh every morning. Luscious green basil leaves, pine nuts and olive oil are all measured carefully to ensure our in-house pesto tastes the same wherever it’s made. The ingredients are blended using a hand mixer.  Guests can then watch as the sauce is added directly to their fresh pasta. And that’s all there is to one of the simplest, but most delicious pasta dishes. Sophisticated and so typically Italian. Little wonder that pasta and pesto has established itself as such a favourite.
